Armies of Saints [#books #review]

by Livio Gambarini

Eternal War
Vita Nova

I really liked this book. The fusion between historical and fantasy setting is intriguing and successful and the presence of characters from History is a big plus for me. However, the fantasy characters are are not inferior. Kabal, the main character, is a big bastard, he pursues his goals and has no problem sacrificing others, friends or enemies, yet I couldn't help but always side with him! Perhaps it's simply because he's a bit of a loser, that with difficulty tries to make his way, choosing to dare.
Last note: I also really appreciate the fact that this book is the first of a series but it could still be read as a stand-alone and give satisfaction, but personally I am very curious to continue with this saga!
