For to win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill.(Pages 33-34)

A book that disappointed me but perhaps due to the false expectations I had. Certainly there is one thing that I liked very much: in this treatise that explains how to defeat your enemies in the best and most efficient way possible, the author repeatedly underlines that the best victory is achieved without even fighting, without waste of economic resources and without a bloodshed. So finding an opinion that, all in all, sounds pacifist, in a book about war is certainly a very welcome surprise!
