Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones [#movie #review]

by George Lucas

Star Wars
Episode I - The Phantom Menace
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

The shroud of the dark side has fallen. Begun the Clone War has.
Yoda

There is unrest in the Galactic Senate. Several thousand solar systems have declared their intentions to leave the Republic. This separatist movement, under the leadership of the mysterious Count Dooku, has made it difficult for the limited number of Jedi Knights to maintain peace and order in the galaxy. Senator Amidala, the former Queen of Naboo, is returning to the Galactic Senate to vote on the critical issue of creating an ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC to assist the overwhelmed Jedi... [From the opening crawl]

This movie was honestly a disappointment. I think that only the great affection I have for the characters and for the saga made me give it a vote above 6. The general plot is confused and not entirely consistent, the subplots are sometimes interesting but mainly they appear forced because they have to bring the characters to the events of the other trilogy.

Ewan McGregor and his green green green (sometimes blue) eyes are one of the few things that I really liked in this movie, even with the beard.

The special effects are always very beautiful, as well as the settings. I especially loved Obi-Wan's spaceship that's made of two parts, one of wich that is used only for travel into hyperspace and it's left in orbit when he arrives on a planet.

The various creatures are very beautiful, especially the Cloners. Very nice also the seismic bombs throwed to Obi-Wan: no doubt spectacular.

The Clonators

Well, in short, not a horrible movie, but, well, they could have done better. A lot.

C3PO and R2D2.

Quotes

Yoda: What help can I be, Obi-Wan? Hmm?
Oby-Wan: I'm looking for a planed discribed to me by an old friend. I trust him but the systems don't show on the archive maps.
Yoda: Mmm. Lost a planet, Master Obi-Wan has. How embarrassing. How embarrassing.

Oh my goodness! Shut me down. Machines building machines. How perverse!
C-3PO

I've got a bad feeling about this.
Anakin Skywalker
