I'm a Mandalorian. Weapons are part of my religion.
The Mandalorian
A new Star Wars series? I'm slready intrigued! Pedro Pascal is the main character? Yes, it looks really interesting! Ming-Na Wen as a guest star? Ok, you convinced me: I have to look at it! And I was right!!
The creator of this series (and screenwriter of almost all the episodes) is Jon Favreau, the unforgettable Happy (and director of the first two) of the Iron Man movies and also others from Marvel. Considering that the first Iron Man is still one of my MCU favorites, I had good expectations and they were not disappointed.
The plot is very compelling but I can't say much without spoilering immediately. So I'll just say that the whole season is more or less the Mandalorian running away from someone, hiding, looking for jobs, and for answers.
The setting is beautiful, as always, in my opinion, in the Star Wars universe. The series is set after Episode VI, and among other things a couple of times we find ourselves in places that we already knew from the movies. In addition, I appreciated the slightly Western tones that combined with science fiction is a winning choice since Firefly, in my opinion.
I found this series very accurate in various details, starting from the soundtrack, that also seemed to me in Western movies' style. The end credits were very beautiful with painted images taken from the episode, which I must say seemed like concept designs for the scenes. The titles of the episodes were also very nice, they're called "Chapters", and made of few words, often only one.
About the characters... do I have to say it? I loved them all. The Mandalorian undoubtedly won me over and we don't even see his face nor do we know his name. Among the other characters I cannot fail to mention something that is spoiler for the first episode:
Among the minor characters I must definitely mention Cara Dun (Gina Carano), a former Rebel soldier, I liked her a lot, but I don't know what to say about her without going into spoiler!
I subscribed to Disney+ for many reasons, and The Mandalorian is certainly one of them. Only 8 episodes, but full of events and emotions. It involved me a lot, made me grew fond of the characters: I can't wait for season 2!!!!
