Avengers: Hawkeye [#comics #review]

by Chick Dixon, Nel Yomtov, Tom Defalco

← Hawkeye (1983)

Shooting at me isn't so smart either. I shoot back. And I never miss. Never.

Next time I want to continue with Hawkeye, if I find a book that contains multiple series, I'll buy instead the single comic books! Because I liked the main comic in this collection, Hawkeye (1994), the other two... not so much!
The 1994 Hawkeye series isn't really anything fancy, but it explores Clint's feelings in a very sad time of his life, and it shows him in action to defend the underdog, so it was a good reading. The second story, Marvel Comics Presents 1988 (#159, #160, #161) bored me, and didn't offer much more about Clint than the previous one. In addition to that it irritated me considerably for the behavior of one character, U.S. Agent. The last story, Hawkeye - Earth's Mightiest Marksman (1998), is completely disconnected from the others, it's not particularly interesting, at least it's not irritating, but it doesn't really offer anything new.
In short, a book that's not at all exciting, but not a bad reading. Surely I still like Hawkeye, and I'll continue with his stories.

Hope this baby finds its mark. Don't try this shot at home, kiddies.

Laser-guided robot gun. Spits out thirty rounds a second. All I have is a steady eye and one shot. By the way. Did I tell you that I never miss?
(Hawkeye 1994 #3, Page 60)

All that I have worked for destroyed by an idiot armed with an antique!
(Hawkeye 1994 #4, Page 86)

Campfire's out. Pitch blackness now. Not a single trick arrow in the quiver. Heh, he doesn't stand a chance.
(Marvel Comics Presents #159, Page 98)

Batroc: I appear to have underestimated you, mon ami.....
Hawkeye: Happens all the time!
(Hawkeye - Earth's Mightiest Marksman, Page 123)

Hawkeye: You learned all that on the internet?
Firestar: Like a certain friendly neighborhood wall-crawler once remarked, "a web is a terrible thing to waste!"
(Hawkeye - Earth's Mightiest Marksman, Page 135)

Fighting for their lives against a state-of-the-art robotics, and they still won't shut up! No wonder they inspire such animosity!
(Hawkeye - Earth's Mightiest Marksman, Page 144)

Albino: Really?! Then you should polish your aim... because you missed me by almost a mile!
Hawkeye: I've got a flash for you, pretty lady... I never miss!
(Hawkeye - Earth's Mightiest Marksman, Page149 )
