This is one of the (I presume) few stories in Stephen King's oeuvre that lacks any supernatural elements. This obviously didn't detract from my enjoyment in reading it: as it's almost always the case with King, it was a beautiful and interesting read! It's very sad, and it kept me a bit "at a distance," so to speak, preventing me from fully empathizing with the characters, but it's still a great book.
